Planacar Gardens

June 29, 2013

The start to my last day of diving. Today I decided to take the "fast boat" out. The regular boats are 40-45 footers, carry up to 16 people, and have canopies but they move relatively slow. It can take 1-1.5 hours just to get out to the first dive site of the morning.

Being my last day I figured I'd speed things along and take a fast boat. The fast boats are 25-30 footers with an outboard motor that rip along the ocean. Getting to the first dive site takes 30-45 minutes and that means less time until I get in the water. And they only take up to 6 divers so there's a bit more elbow room.

We wound up at Planacar Gardens for our initial dive. The most interesting aspect of Planacar Gardens are the swim throughs. The coral and rock formations that create an archway that you have to...well...swim through.

As soon as we descended, we immediately happened upon a little squid.

This lobster was out for a walk in the morning which is rare.

Here's one of the swim throughs.
