Hotel Cozumel Night Dive

June 28, 2013

Another night dive off the hotel pier. This time I teamed up with a couple of Europeans (I never did find out their exact country of origin). The weather was much more agreeable so I got a shot of the sunset.

Not quite as much to see on this night but it was still interesting. We found a small moray eel out in search of food. The most interesting aspect of this video might be after the eel has gone. You get a sense of what it's like night diving.

Later on we found an octopus on a rock. These cephalopods are so amazing and alien. First he splays himself across the rock. Then he darts away. When I find him on the ocean floor, he inks and darts away again. At last he takes refuge in a coral formation where I can't follow.

That was the end of the dive and it was back to the hotel for a hot shower and much rum.
