Giant Aquarium - Dive 1

July 25, 2009

Our first dive of the day with Island Divers Hawaii was on the Corsair dive site.  It was a great day for diving, great visibility and warm weather.  It really gave the Corsair a giant aquarium feel.  The site itself has changed a bit since I was here last.  Now one of the Corsair's wings is entirely covered by sand, leaving only the right wing exposed.  Here's a shot of the body of the aircraft.

Here's just the propeller.

I passed my camera to one of the other divers on our boat who was good enough to get this shot of me with the plane.

Towards the end of our bottom time another group of divers from another dive company showed up.  This area is really only the size of the Corsair so it's really quite small for a dive site.  It got very crowded, very quickly but it was time for us to head back up the line anyway.

Everyone got back on board without incident and we headed to the next site during our surface interval.
