Diving in Kauai - Dive 1

January 17, 2009

It's my first time in Kauai so I thought it would be good chance to do some diving.  I called up Seasport Divers and booked a couple of morning dives.  They had a decent crew and a good boat, lots of room and well equiped.

Kauai itself is incredible. They call it the Garden Island for a reason. I took a few shots on the way out but they don't really do it justice.

The divemaster chose a shallower site as our group couldn't go below 60 ft. because we had a 12 year old with us.  It's great to see kids getting into diving.  I hope my boys get interested when they get older too.

The dive itself was nothing spectacular.  Saw the standard underwater Hawaiian wildlife.  The visibility wasn't great because of the high winds and swell the day before. I found an interesting nudi branch, a shell with an intricate design, and a moray eel that was feeling photogenic.

That capped off the dive and we headed to the top for our surface interval.
